A Timeless Gender Neutral Bunk Room

A gender neutral bunk room is the perfect place to combine classic patterns, rich textures, and playful details. This design starts with a dark brown deer axis rug that brings warmth and character to the space. Schumacher’s Iconic Acanthus wallpaper in chambray blue adds a timeless layer of pattern without making the room feel overly themed. Antique brass accents elevate the design and give the bunk room a more polished, upscale feel. Espresso wood bunk beds provide a strong foundation and can be purchased as freestanding bunks or designed as custom built ins. This particular design board features a Living Spaces bunk bed, but at Ash & Oak Design Co., we are always game for built in bunk beds when the space allows.

The smaller details are what make this kids bunk room design feel special. Target offers printed ottomans in a variety of fabrics, making it easy to achieve the look of custom upholstery without the custom price tag. A Visual Comfort star flush mount adds a playful lighting element while still feeling sophisticated enough to grow with the room. Gingham is another favorite for children’s spaces and looks especially charming when incorporated into a lampshade. The combination of classic wallpaper, rich wood, antique brass, gingham, and playful accessories creates a bunk room that feels collected, comfortable, and designed to last.
